Wine Ingredient Kits
A wide range of wine kits to suit every budget and taste
As wholesalers, HomeBrewWest are establishing new brands in Ireland. To promote these wines, we sometimes offer special pricing until the brands have been established. Examples of superb value kits include our best value award winning wine kits (winning 195 medals in wine making competitions in the USA this year):
Advintage Moments 30 Bottle Wine Kits (8.1 Litres Concentrate), and
Advintage Celebration del Mondo 30 Bottle Kits (16 Litre Concentrate).
These are currently available for much less than normal RRPs (closer to wholesale prices). We have tried some and found them to be much better than even our most expensive wine kits. We are delighted to be able to promote them here, because once you try one we are convinced that you wont go back to the other brands.
Other examples of great value kits include Bards Grape Blends 7-Day 30 Bottle Kits and Magnum 14-Day Wine Kits (30 Bottles).
Don't expect a wine you make in 5 or 7 days to yield the same quality as a 28 or 42 day wine (although the 5 day Cantina Pinot Grigio may be somewhat of an exception). After bottling, quality wines (especially 28 and 42 day wines) will really improve with age. Even a couple of weeks in the bottle can make a very significant difference.
The HomeBrewWest Smart Wine Starter Kit is perfect for making all the wines below because it has a special degasser, and uses a Better Bottle which is every bit as good as a glass carboy, but cheaper and much safer and easier to handle.
Should wines be filtered?
Wines significantly improve a few weeks after bottling, so filtering is not essential. Our advice is wines that take a couple of weeks or less to make should be filtered because they tend to get consumed fairly quickly! For the other wines, if you are prepared to wait a few weeks more to let them age, then you dont really need a filter. But remember that practically all commercial wineries filter their wines because they achieve better clarity, are more stable, will age better and keep longer. Filters help to rid wine of excess gasses and remove yeast and other impurities. Filtering wines improves taste, appearance and durability, and can enhance overall quality (check out the new Mark 4 wine filter in the equipment section).
