Product description

This kit is a homebrew clone of the American classic craft beer: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Makes 20 litres of wort based on 70% efficiency so its suitable for any all grain setup, although the Bulldog Brewer and Speidel Braumeister all-in-one systems will probably yield much more wort.

It contains:
- over 5 Kg of grain (94 % Colorado malt)
- over 100 grams of hops in 4 separate additions,
- 2 dry yeast sachets OR WLP001 liquid yeast,
- Irish moss,
- 4 muslin bags.

Target ABV: 5.3.0% (OG: 1052, FG: 1012)
Target IBU: 38
Target EBC: 20

Crush grains with a Bulldog Malt Mill and mash in 20 litres of water at 68 oC for 60 minutes. Mash out at 76 oC; sparge with 9 litres of hot water at 75 oC. Bring to a rolling boil and add hops at times indicated, using the included muslin bags for each hop addition (topping up if wort volume falls below 18 litres, add the Irish moss 15 minutes before end of boil). Cool to 20 oC and dilute so that the specific gravity is 1.052 (should be 20 litres approx); then pitch the 2 yeast sachets OR make a yeast starter and pitch the WLP001 liquid yeast. Ferment at 19 oC for 8 days; its important to keep the temperature as stable as possible. Once hydrometer readings indicate that fermentation is complete add the dry hops. 7 days later remove the dry hops, transfer the beer to a Bottling Bucket, add 130 grams of dextrose OR 140 grams of spraymalt OR 1 litre of wort, gently mix and then bottle. Read this article: Priming Beer. Keep bottles warm (above 18 oC) for at least 10 days. Then chill and serve.
