Instructions For BrewSmarter Premium Starter Beer Kit

Check that this is the starter kit that you bought, and then either read or print the instructions. If you "buy" these instructions, we will print them out for you and include them in your order.

BrewSmarter Premium Starter Beer Kit

STEP 1 CHECK AND ASSEMBLE COMPONENTS
Your kit should contain:
48 new technology 500 ml Coopers Ox-Bar bottlles
Brew belt
Fermenter with lid, bung and airlock
Bottle filling stick and tap
SR Hydrometer and Trial jar
Plastic Stirring Paddle
Liquid Crystal Thermometer
Cleaner/Sterilizer
Home Brew Kit, includes yeast
1 Kg brewing sugar
1 pack of Coopers Carbonation Drops

Attach the tap to the fermenter making sure that the rubber ring is on the outside of the fermenter. Do not over tighten or the threads on the tap or nut can be damaged.

Place the airlock in the gromment in the fermenter's lid. When filling the airlock with water, only fill less than half way with water.

Attach the Liquid Crystal Thermometer by peeling off the backing strip and sticking it to the outside of the fermenter about half way up between the tap and the lid of the fermenter. Make sure you attach it horizontally so that the brew belt doesn't come in contact with it later (this would interfere with the temperature reading).

Fill your fermenter with water to make sure there are no leaks.

STEP 2 STERILIZE EQUIPMENT
Follow the instructions on your sterilizer.  Allow sterilizer to drain through the tap.

STEP 3 CLOSE THE TAP
Make sure the tap is fully closed before going any further.

STEP 4 MAKING THE BEER
Follow the instructions in the beer kit. For a better quality beer, use Brewing Sugar or Malt Extract (either liquid or dried spraymalt) instead of normal sugar. Cooper's Carbonation Drops may be used instead of priming sugar to make bottling much easier.

STEP 5 BOTTLING THE BEER
Follow the instructions in the beer kit. Sterilize the bottles before bottling. Generally, a  half of a level teaspoon of sugar is required to "prime" each 330/375/500 ml bottle. However, Cooper's Carbonation Drops may be used instead of sugar to make bottling much easier; use one Carbonation Drop per 500 ml bottle, and two per 750 ml bottle. To bottle, attach the (sterilized) bottling stick to the tap. Insert sugar / carbonation drops into the bottles. Then press each bottle up against the bottling stick (this opens a valve at the end of the bottling stick), and fill the bottle. Lower the bottle when it is full; this closes the valve again, and leaves the correct amount of head space in the bottle.
